Remy Bonjasky flirts with making a comeback: “finally we can sign the contract”

The neverending story that is: will Remy Bonjasky finally be making a comeback? Took another (mysterious) step foward today.

On Bonjasky’s Instagram account, the three-time K-1 World Grand Prix champion stated:

“They’ve contacted me, we talked, and we can finally sign the contract……Return to this account if you want to be the first to know.”

The oldest and worst kept secret in modern kickboxing has been Bonjasky’s (on-and-off) potential return to GLORY Kickboxing.

Since his ‘retirement fight’ against, Mirko Cro Cop which, he won by majority decision at GLORY 14 Zagreb, “The Flying Gentleman” has been making a fair few l Dutch TV appearances in a punditry position on the sport. As well as being at the epicentres of some well publicised call-outs involving: Rico Verhoeven and Gökhan Saki, only for nothing to have materialised until it seems, today.

Another name that Bonjasky has been linked to in recent months is that of Badr Hari who, recently was released from prison after serving a three months for well reported assaults he’d been previously convicted for.

The two adversaries have unfinished business dating back to the 2008 K-1 World GP Final which, Hari would lose via disqualification; for, stomping on Remy’s head whilst he was on the canvas in the second round of a very memorable fight (for all the right and wrong reasons).

There would seem to be at least two potential big name opponents (in Badr Hari and Rico Verhoeven) on the horizon for Bonjasky if indeed he were to finally make a comeback.

Obviously, Saki has since retired from kickboxing and signed for the UFC but super-fights with either (or both) Verhoeven or Badr would certainly get the world of kickboxing (and the Dutch mainstream audience and media) all fired-up again since GLORY Collision.

However, it is unknown as of yet how much time Hari would need to get fit and strong again following his most recent jail-time and Verhoeven has been booked for a year-end showdown with Jamal Ben Saddik (but what if Saddik isn’t available again for their rescheduled title-fight in December?).

K1ANOOP will update you again as the situation develops further.
