Ramon Dekkers will always be remembered as one of the (if not) greatest of all time fighters from the Netherlands and undoubtedly the greatest ‘Muay Farang’ who, took on anyone and everyone in Thailand and beat them up, good and proper.
Lumpinee champions were no longer unbeatable once they crossed paths with the “Turbine from Hell” and the rest as they say, is history. Real Muay Thai and kickboxing history that greatly influenced the sport, (both rule sets i.e. K1 and Thai rules) to evolve in the manner that it has, in this day and age of combat sports.
“The Diamond” will always inspire future generations of aspiring fighters for his awesome achievements and for being an absolute legend of the sport. Sadly, Ramon is no longer with us and passed away on February 23, 2013. Dekker’s was only 43 years of age at the time of his passing which, was a huge loss for his family, friends and the world of martial arts.

Paul Banasiak, is the face, voice and words of one of the most popular online Muay Thai platforms, the “Muay Thai Athlete” and one-half of the highly successful, “Muay Thai Guys” podcast.
“The Reaper” will be co-headlining Lion Fight 36 against, fellow cruiserweight Brett Hlavacek. The latter is a well known veteran of US Muay Thai and Banasiak will be fighting his fourth professional fight. However, the Polish born American fighter has plenty of drive, determination and potential to get to the very top of his division.
Niclas Larsen, will co-headline GLORY 40 Copenhagen against, Muay Thai prodigy, Yodkhunpon Sitmonchai. This will be Larsen’s second fight following his return to action, after serious ill-health (and an absence of almost three years) from word kickboxing and Muay Thai.
If Larsen is victorious against Yodkhunpon then he is set to gain entry as one of four participants in the forthcoming lightweight contender tournament which, secures the tournament winner with a shot at the GLORY lightweight champion, currently Sitthichai Sitsongpeenong.
Ibrahim El Boustati rematches, “It’s Showtime” and GLORY Kickboxing veteran, Filip Verlinden, in a grudge match that will headline Enfusion Live 49 on April 29, 2017. “The Beast” was shockingly knocked-out in his previous outing by Ulrik Bokeme (losing his first career fight in his 46th fight) at Enfusion Live 46 in a non-title fight. The rematch with Verlinden will be a title defence and the war of words between the two has been ongoing since last year.
El Boustati had previously defeated Verlinden via a close and controversial decision at Enfusion Live 41 last year. However, the “Verlidengate” saga that followed a month later, caused even further controversy around the official decision and further fuelled the animosity between both fighters. This time though, Ibrahim will be defending his Enfusion middleweight title against Verlinden (in their previous clash, he hadn’t).
Abdou Karim Chorr returns to GLORY Kickboxing since defeating Rhassan Muhareb atGLORY 29. In his last outing at Rumble of the Kings four months ago, Chorr emphatically knocked-out former Yokkao world champion, Sanny Dahlbeck.
Having won the unofficial ‘Battle of Swedish Muay Thai’, a potential GLORY contract now awaits Chorr if he can continue his run of good form and overcome Youssef Assouik at GLORY 40 in Copenhagen on April 29, 2017.
Bates had successfully secured a two-fight contract with GLORY, after recently defeating ISKA world champion, Kev Ward at the Road to Glory UKevent in March. Jamie has been involved in kickboxing his whole life and at 27 years of age, has an unofficial fight record of over 100 fights. Bates has been fighting in recent years on the European circuit for the likes of: the Tatneft Cup, ACB KB, Superkombat and Respect World Series.
Jamie Bates vs. Kev Ward headlined the Road to Glory UK event in March 2017 which, would secure the winner of this match-up (80kg catchweight) with, a two-fight contract with GLORY Kickboxing.
Both men are experienced fighters and Ward is an ISKA world champion, however, Bates would win by decision and go on to make his GLORY debut against Richard Abraham at GLORY 40 SuperFight Series in Copenhagen on, April 29, 2017.
